We focus on safety first, having fun second, then learning to surf.
Location – located at Bolsa Chica State Beach, a beach break (no rocks) consistently 30% to 40% smaller in wave size compared to other southern California surf breaks. Less crowds and NO agressive locals, giving your youngster the best possible option for conditions making it safer and easier. The state beach provides bathrooms with hot and cold water showers 20 yards from our camp with plenty of parking and easy pick-up and drop-off.
Real surfing fundamentals – to ensure the best exposure to surfing we support our teaching with testing drills to assure the students are getting the best surfing experience.
Aunthentic hand-shaped surfboards – We use authentic hand-shaped surfboards, opposed to soft boards or manufactured plastics. Being introduced to an authentic hand-shaped surfboard teaches safety and confidence instead of re-learning these skills after switching to a “real” surfboard.
All of our programs include spring wetsuits and “real” surfboards.

We are here for you, whether you have never touched a surfboard, ready to move to the next level, or you want to switch to a Shortboard, we have the programs you need. All of our lessons include coached and supervised practice sessions. Remember, we are teaching our students on authentic handshaped surfboards.
Parents wanting to stay at the school to watch the daily activities is perfectly fine with us. We encourage any input that you may have and I am available on the beach from 8am to 10:30am and back at 11:30am until 2:00pm. Please keep in mind everyone learns at their own pace, if your youngster is between 5 and 8 years old, we have specially designed boards and we take them out one at a time. Please do not have high expectations on their surfing learning skills.
Even if you are a returning student we will review your skills so that you may proceed to more advanced skills. Then of course when the skill level is there, we move to the lineup catching waves. Surfing sessions are every other hour with your assigned group. When your group is not surfing we organize a class. The group assignments are based on skill level, size, and age. Those of you coming with friends and relatives are welcome to be in the same group.
In closing I would like to inform you that I personally train all of the instructors in our teaching methods. Your youngsters’ safety and experience in the water, and at the beach is very important to me and my staff. We are a family business and this will be our 16th year at the same location at Bolsa Chica. If you are driving from a distance we are well worth the drive.
